Zektbach

Tomosuke Funaki (舟木智介, Funaki Tomosuke, born January 1st) also known as Zektbach and numerous other pseudonyms, is a Japanese composer, employed by Konami Digital Enternainment at the Bemani division, producing rhythm games such as the Beatmania and Pop'n'Music series. He has created more than 150 pieces of music in various genres (inspired by bossa nova, strong jazz, goa trance or Japanese rock).[1]

Under the Zektbach pseudonym, originally meant to sign compositions of an electro-orchestral style, Funaki created a universe and characters unraveled over several types of media, namely, The Epic of Zektbach.

Zektbach is the composer of all music found in the Epic, and the lyricist of most of its songs.

It is through Tomosuke's various commentaries in the Epic of Zektbach Guidebook that he clarified the universe conceptualized through the various media and expanded upon its symbolism.

The birth of the Epic of Zektbach[1][]

The name "Zektbach" first appeared in the song "Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute)" from Konami's flute game GuitarFreaksV & DrumManiaV (launched on February 23, 2005). At the time, it was just a name that Tomosuke used in the comments to fit the world view of the song.

However, in the music game "beatmaniaIIDX13 Distorted" (started operation on March 15, 2006), "Apocalypse - dirge of swans" appeared as a song with a narrative. In addition, "Shamshir's Dance" from "pop'n music 14 FEVER! (released on May 17, 2006), and "Blind Justice ~Turn souls, Hurt Faiths~" from "beatmaniaIIDX 14 GOLD" (released on February 21, 2007), the world of the Epic of Zektbach continued to expand.
